29 October 2010: Over 80 friends and supporters of Portishead in Bloom attended the AGM at the Folk Hall and joined the celebration of the group's achievements this year. Following the welcome from Sandy Tebbutt (Chair, PiB), the DVD about Portishead, produced by Portishead Camera Club for the judges as an introduction to the town, was shown. Councillor Reyna Knight (Chair of Portishead & North Weston Town Council) spoke of her pride in the achievements of Portishead in the regional and national 'In Bloom' competitions and thanked all those involved.

Terry Porter (NSC Councillor & RHS In Bloom Judge) talked of the town's year-on-year improvement in the competition, culminating in our best year ever in 2010. He presented certificates to Spring and Summer Garden Award winners, followed by the RHS It's Your Neighbourhood awards to various groups and projects which were judged during the summer. He also presented the John Daws Cup, together with a cheque for £100, sponsored this year by North Somerset Times, to Gordon Randall, previous Chairman of Portishead in Bloom, in recognition of his 12 years' involvement with the group.

A special award was given to Ken Windibank who not only raises a considerable amount of money in the annual Open Gardens weekend, but also gives up a lot of his time throughout the year to help with planting and maintenance.

Three members of the committee stepped down: Sheila Daws (Treasurer), Antje Lehmann (Secretary) and Denny Pollock. We are grateful for the many hours they have contributed to the group over several years.

To conclude the meeting, Sandy Tebbutt thanked all the organisations, businesses and individuals who have helped Portishead in Bloom in various ways this year.
